INDIANA SHERIFF INJURED IN HEAD ON AUTO ACCIDENT

police-lights3.jpgThe Howard County Sheriff's Department in Central Indiana is reporting that a deputy is recovering after his cruiser was struck head-on by a pickup truck on U. S. 31. The accident reportedly occurred south of United States Road 35 when James Smith of Dixon, Kentucky, hit a patch of black ice and lost control of his truck and moved across lanes into the path of Deputy Keith Chesshir's squad car, striking it on the driver's side door.

EMTs transferred both individuals to Saint Joseph Hospital in Central Indiana.

NOBLESVILLE INDIANA CAR ACCIDENT SHUTS DOWN HAMILTON COUNTY INDIANA HIGHWAY

The involved section of Indiana State Road 37 were closed as police and sheriff deputies investigated the collision scene. News choppers caught video of a tarp being placed over the vehicle that collided with the dump truck. There were no reports on the number of passengers in the vehicle or the condition of the driver at the time of this writing.

HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS SHUT DOWN PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE 74 IN INDIANPOLIS INDIANA

The east and westbound lanes of Interstate 74 in Indianapolis, Indiana near the exit for Ronald Regan Parkway was shut down by Indiana State Police due to a jackknifed semi tractor - trailer and numerous slide offs Sunday morning.

Although numerous incidents, slide-offs and accidents were reported on the Central Indiana highway, no serious injuries were reported.

FIRST INDIANA SNOWFALL LEAVES INDIANAPOLIS ROADS FILLED WITH ACCIDENTS AND FRUSTRATED DRIVERS

By noon in Indianapolis, Indiana, cars, trucks, and semis around the city were reporting numerous accidents and road closures. The following are a few:

--An auto accident closed 3 lanes of NB of I-465 near I-70 (mile marker 42.8).
--A crash in the right lane of SB 465 near West 71st Street (near mile marker 21.0).
-- 3 right lanes of eastbound I-70 were closed near Shadeland Avenue (mile marker 88.2).
--Clean up of a wreck close the left lane of northbound I-65 near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (near mile 116.5).
--3 lanes of westbound I-70 were shut down near Rural Street/Keystone Avenue due to an automobile crash near mile marker 84.5.

AN INDIANAPOLIS WOMAN IS TAKEN TO WISHARD HOSPITAL AFTER HER SUV COLLIDED WITH A SCHOOL BUS

As a school bus was pulling out of a subdivision onto Silvercreek Drive near South Emerson Avenue and East Southport Road at around 7:35 a.m. on Monday, an SUV came over a small hill and clipped the bus causing the SUV to flip over. The female driver of the SUV was taken to Wishard Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, 24 kids were on the school bus headed to Jeremiah Gray-Edison Elementary. None of the kids were reported to have sustained injuries, and were placed on different bus before continuing on to school.

DRUNK DRIVER INJURES INDIANA STATE TROOPER IN EARLY MORNING COLLISION

Indiana State Trooper, Nick Klingkammer, was in his squad car stopped at a light near the intersection of Keystone and Fall Creek at around 1:30 am this morning when a vehicle driven by Sonja Dixon collided with him.

Klingkammer was taken to the hospital and released; however, it was discovered that Dixon had an blood-alcohol level of .21. Authorities are still investigating the incident; however, at this point they believe Dixon's intoxication was the cause.

MORNING WEATHER IS BLAMED FOR COLLISION THAT CLAIMS THE LIFE OF A WOMAN ON INDIANAPOLIS'S NORTHSIDE

A woman, who has not yet been identified by authorities, lost her life Monday morning when her vehicle was struck on north side of Indianapolis near North Michigan Road and Thorny Croft The accident occurred this morning just after 8 a.m.

Authorities reported that a Caucasian female driving a Honda Accord was near the 800 block in the southbound lane of North Michigan Road when she lost control of her vehicle as she approached slowing or stopped vehicles in front of her. Authorities believe she was attempting to avoid the vehicles in her lane and veered into northbound traffic hitting one or two other vehicles. The small two-door Honda Accord she was driving was spun out in front of an approaching northbound SUV. The Accord was t-boned on the driver’s side, and authorities believe the woman was likely killed instantly

TWO INJURED IN INDIANAPOLIS, MARION COUNTY IN OVERNIGHT MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

Two motorcycle riders were injured when the bike they were riding was struck by a truck that was pulling out of Stables Pub near Arlington and Southeastern Avenue. Attending emergency personnel noted that the female passenger has massive head trauma. The driver of the motorcycle was listed as having a fractured ankle.

The driver of the truck that struck the bike was arrested. While DUI is believe to have been the charge, there were no specifics with local media outlets.

INDIANA STATE POLICE NOW CONFIRM ERROR AND REPORT ONLY TWO DEAD IN HAMILTON COUNTY CAR ACCIDENT ON INTERSTATE 69

Just hours after reporting that a male driver was a third victim in the multi-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 69 just south of Noblesville in Fishers, Indiana on Tuesday morning, Indiana State police confirm that the suspected third decedent had been located in Methodist Hospital. Police blame the magnitude of the accident and the massive number of witnesses and victims as the culprit for the mix-up on information.
