AN INDIANAPOLIS WOMAN IS TAKEN TO WISHARD HOSPITAL AFTER HER SUV COLLIDED WITH A SCHOOL BUS

As a school bus was pulling out of a subdivision onto Silvercreek Drive near South Emerson Avenue and East Southport Road at around 7:35 a.m. on Monday, an SUV came over a small hill and clipped the bus causing the SUV to flip over. The female driver of the SUV was taken to Wishard Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, 24 kids were on the school bus headed to Jeremiah Gray-Edison Elementary. None of the kids were reported to have sustained injuries, and were placed on different bus before continuing on to school.

INDIANA CONSTRUCTION WORKER INJURED WHILE ON THE JOB IN GREENWOOD, INDIANA

Rescue personnel removed a man from a 10 ft. deep trench near SR 135 and County Line Road in Greenwood, Indiana. According to police, it was believed that the man was working alongside an excavator digging sewer lines for a nursing home when the bucket of the excavator fell off and struck him in the head.

At the time of the incident, the injured worker was working for Filson Earthwork of Noblesville, Indiana. According to first responders, a trench box was not in use at the time of the accident. There are no reports on the condition of the worker. Police and IOSHA investigations are said to continue

TWO MEN KILLED IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT IN COLUMBUS, BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, INDIANA

The Bartholomew County Coroner, Allen Smith, has identified two individuals that were killed in a single car accident in Columbus, Indiana, over the weekend. The driver was identified as 48-year-old Anthony Rooker and the passenger was identified as Justin Shinolt, 32.

Police say the car was traveling east on Deaver Road near Denois Street when the driver lost control causing the vehicle to go airborne, slam into a tree, and burst into flames.

HIT AND RUN DRIVER THAT KILLED AN 81 YEAR OLD RILEY VOLUNTEER ARRESTED FOR LEAVING THE SCENE

Metro detectives have arrested 37-year-old Roger Ordonez for leaving the scene of a deadly crash. Police believe Ordonez was the driver responsible for a deadly hit and run crash on Saturday afternoon that took the life of 81 year-old, Lola Herman.

Herman was headed northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Street when Ordonez, driving a green Jeep Grand Cherokee headed eastbound on 16th Street, ran a red light and t-boned her. Police say Ordonez ran from the scene and was picked up by someone driving a black Ford SUV. Officers found Ordonez at his home in Lawrence a few hours after the crash. The FACT Team is now handling the investigation because officers tell us they believe Ordonez was drunk at the time of the crash. The results of Ordonez’s blood alcohol test are pending. Police arrested Ordonez .

Herman was a 24-year volunteer at Riley Hospital for Children. Hospital officials describe Lola Herman as “the quintessential volunteer - friendly and always willing to help.” Herman also served as a trainer for volunteers in the Riley Infant Unit.
